Melgar is a small town. Stay at Hotel Anamichu Suites, and you are right next to its Main Square or Parque General Gustavo Rojas Pinilla. A barely ten-minute walk takes you to the place of the local church, where street vendors sell "cholados" (shaved ice with fruit) and souvenirs in makeshift stalls all around the park.

Nightlife lovers, the renowned Zona Rosa is also walkable (about 10-15 minutes). Over there, the place is packed with discotheques and bars and restaurants where the intense "rumba" or party that Melgar is recognized for can be experienced. Aquatic adventure seekers, slightly further but still considered walking distance if not for the scorching sun, by taxi or mototaxi a3-minute ride,a huge complex with a zoo besides multiple wave pools and sports facilities,Cafam Melgar sits just next to town.

There are many "Asaderos" (steakhouses) and fast food restaurants in the supermarket(Exito or D1)(5-10mins walking distance)adjacent to the hotel where water, snacks, and sunblock can also be purchased.
